Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
Multiple sources reported this week that Mitchell’s Steakhouse on 45 N. Third St. downtown abruptly closed. Mitchell’s first opened in 1998 as part of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, although it had been sold to other restaurant groups a couple times over the subsequent years. Their Polaris location remains open.
Speaking of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, they announced this week that they’ll be opening a third location of Hudson 29 Kitchen + Drink, this one in the new Fitzgerald development in Bexley. It’s set to open sometime in the spring of 2027. It joins locations in Upper Arlington and New Albany.
BBQ & The Pier is now open at North Market Bridge Park, in the former COLO Market & Oyster Bar space. It’s co-owned by Enis Ndreu from Holy Crepes (which also has stands at both North Markets) and Elvis Lloshi, who managed the bygone Iron Grill barbecue restaurant, which just closed in Clintonville.
Speaking of Iron Grill, that space at 5295 N. High St. is now home to a sports bar called TK’s Hangout Pub & Patio.
The Al-Sindabad Iraqi cafe opened back in April but held its official grand opening last weekend at 4562 Cemetery Rd. in Hilliard. The cafe offers coffee, waffles, desserts, and traditional Iraqi breakfasts.
Orale Guey Mexican restaurant will host the grand opening of their new Worthington restaurant this weekend on Saturday, May 30. It was delayed from last weekend after water pipes burst and flooded part of the restaurant. The new location sits at 1175 Worthington Woods Blvd.
After more than a month of renovations, the MTM Tavern | Steakhouse location at 6725 Avery-Muirfield Dr. in Dublin will reopen to the public this Monday, June 1.
The Louisville-based breakfast chain Wild Eggs is opening a central Ohio location. It’s coming to 775 N Hamilton Rd. in the Hamilton Quarter development between Gahanna and New Albany.
As a reminder, the final days for the Ajumama Korean street food truck are this weekend. Chef and owner Laura Lee is hosting a good-bye dinner on Friday, May 29 from 5-7 p.m. at the Food Fort (737 Parkwood Ave.) and will make a final appearance at the Clintonville Farmers Market on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.
And as a reminder, Legacy Smokehouse in Hilliard will be closing up this week. They announced last week that they’ll be closing after a recent health scare for the owner.
