There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- Krema Nut Company announced this week that it has closed the sandwich counter at its Grandview store. The counter served a variety of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as well as milkshakes. In a social media post they cited staffing demands and limited retail space as the main reasons for the closure.
- Bottoms Up Coffee expanded to a second location this week, taking over the former Stauf’s coffee shop in The View on Grant (350 Mt. Vernon Ave.). Bottoms Up first opened in Franklinton in 2016 and has changed hands a couple times since then. The business is also home to a coworking space, and serves as a social enterprise working to reduce infant mortality.
- Multiple sources reported this week that Rise Brands, the company behind 16-Bit Bar & Arcade and PINS Mechanical Co., has taken over the grounds of the Bogey Inn in Dublin. The local institution closed in 2022 after the long-time owner passed away. Rise Brands plans to demolish the existing building and transform the area into a three-acre entertainment complex that includes food, multiple bars, live music, and a 27-hole putting course.
- Central Ohio’s newest all-you-can eat Korean BBQ and hot pot restaurant, Meetpot, soft opened this week at 114 Hutchinson Ave. in the former Wurst Und Bier space at Crosswoods. It joins a growing number of AYCE Korean BBQ spots like KPOT and One Pot.
- Delaware’s Ciao Café announced that it is expanding to a new shop at 214 Thurman Ave. in German Village. The space, located near the Fox in the Snow shop, has previously been a couple different juice and shake bars. Ciao Cafe is known for its gelato, paninis, and pastries. An exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet.
- Matt Fish, owner of Melt Bar & Grilled, announced that the company has officially ceased operations. The over-the-top grilled cheese shop started in Lakewood, Ohio but previously had Columbus locations in the Short North and at Easton, both of which closed up in recent years.
- The fast casual Mediterranean spot Agape opened its newest location at 855 W. Third Ave. in Grandview Yard this week. This makes for its sixth location overall.
- Bubbly Hall in New Albany welcomed its newest vendor this week, Zero’s Pizza.
- Business First reported that Liberty Tavern in Powell has closed and is being replaced by Elliot’s Wood-Fired Pizza, which is based in Newark. (You can see a little of Elliot’s original location in our itinerary Let’s Go To Licking County.)
- After closing temporarily for a revamp, Ghostwriter Public House in Johnstown reopened this week.
- Little Ladies Soft Serve is currently on a winter hiatus, and will reopen its shop at 673 Worthington Rd. on Saturday, Feb. 1.
- COLO Market & Oyster Bar at North Market Downtown is hosting a five-course dinner led by chef Justin Wotring, called Market After Dark, on Friday, Jan. 24
