There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
The owners of Milestone 229 announced this week that they haven’t been able to arrive at a satisfactory agreement regarding their lease with the city, and so will be closing on Dec. 31. The downtown eatery, notable because of its prominent place along the Scioto Mile, first opened 14 years ago.
Black Kahawa coffee roasters celebrated the grand opening of their full-service coffee shop this week at 2 E. Broad St. downtown. The local roaster had been operating its trailer on the patio out front since this spring. The full shop features hot and iced coffee, local snacks, and eventually a bar with Rhinegeist beers on tap. Central Ohio’s second Paris Baguette celebrates its official grand opening this Saturday, Dec. 14. The first location of the South Korea-based chain opened earlier this year at Easton. The new location sits at 8839 Lyra Dr. outside Polaris Fashion Place.
Three Bites Bakery is hosting a collaboration dinner with Maslo on Dec. 20 at the bakery. The dinner is a form of a Polish Wigilia, a traditional meal eaten on Christmas Eve. Seating is limited to 20 people; tickets can be purchased through Three Bites’ website.
The Near East Cafe announced this week that it would be temporarily closing to retool and rebrand itself. While it’s closed for retail hours, it’s still available for catering and events. The cafe is located at 1600 E. Long St.
A second location of Bendi Wok N Bar opened this week at 170 W. Main St. in New Albany. The original Bendi Wok sits on East Livingston Avenue near German Village.
Mr. Hibachi continues its expansion around central with the soft opening of its newest location this week at 1155 Worthington Woods Blvd. in Worthington.
The city of Hilliard announced that the Yemeni coffee shop Qahwah House will open a location in the forthcoming Truepointe development. Qahwah House is based out of eastern Michigan and opened a first central Ohio location downtown earlier this year.
