There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • Today the quirky cafe known for its pancake balls opens its third location! Dubbed Katalina’s Tres, the new Katalina’s is located at 2741 E. Main St. in Bexley. It joins their original cafe in Harrison West and their second spot, Katalina’s, Too in Clintonville! Click here to read more about the new Katalina’s Tres!
  • Tomorrow – Saturday, Nov. 2 – Yawning Bear Bread Company opens its first storefront at 999 Mt. Vernon Ave. in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood. The bakery has been a staple of local markets over recent years, and took over the old Three Bites Bakery space after Three Bites moved to Broad and High downtown.
  • This week High Bank Distillery in Westerville opened its new speakeasy, dubbed XXI, for the 21st Amendment. The speakeasy is located in the basement of High Bank’s newest location, and incorporates elements that recall the building’s original purpose as a post office.
  • Also this week, Cincinnati-based Taft’s Brewing announced abruptly that its Columbus location, the Taft’s Brewporium, has closed. The brewpub was located at 440 W. Broad St. in Franklinton’s Gravity development, and was known for Taft’s beers and New Haven-style pizzas. This follows on the closure of Taft’s Ale House in Cincinnati earlier this year.
  • A new pizza shop based out of Findlay, Ohio, called Jac & Do’s on High, has opened a Columbus location at 1607 N. High St. in the former Slammie’s on High space.
  • Tune in to the Food Network tonight – Friday, Nov. 1 – at 9 p.m. to see Columbus’ own Wario’s Beef & Pork on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives! It joins a list of Columbus restaurants that have been recently featured, including Katalina’s, Joya’s Cafe, King Gyros Greek Restaurant, and others.
  • This week Law Bird cocktail bar hosted another edition of its pizza pop-up called Wolf Pizza. The current pop-up runs through Sunday, Nov. 3 from 5-10 p.m. Guests are advised to arrive early, since they have been selling out.
  • Martini Modern Italian in the Short North announced that it is closed through Nov. 8 for a refresh of its space.
  • Columbus Food Adventures is hosting a special dinner with Katzinger’s Deli on Thursday, Nov. 7, in honor of the deli’s 40th anniversary. The evening will include stories, food, and a special beer brewed for the occasion.
  • The Worthington Farmers Market moves indoors for its winter season starting this Saturday, Nov. 2.
  • There’s still time to experience Diwali celebrations and specials at both Rooh and the new Flour Modern Pasta Bar.
  • The North Market Bridge Park has a couple events coming up next week! The Taste of the Market gala is Friday, Nov. 8 and the Harvest Market is Saturday, Nov. 9.
  • Tickets are now on sale for The Daily Growler‘s annual beer and donut pairings on Sunday, Dec. 1. You snag seats through their website for scheduled tastings at their Upper Arlington and German Village stores.
